I loved the discussion about how fixed and free-form prayers can be mutually reinforcing and complementary. One of the joys of my spiritual journey, amidst many frustrations and perplexities, is to allow my prayer life to develop further, sometimes in unexpected ways.
I would also like to comment that in the LDS Church we have a whole book of over 300 set prayers that we use every Sunday. Just because we sing them instead of speaking them doesn’t mean they aren’t set prayers.
