302.1: Fidelity (OT Gospel Doctrine Lesson 34, Updated)

“I Will Betroth Thee unto Me in Righteousness”

The core message of Hosea is fidelity: fidelity to God, which extends to fidelity to each other and ourselves. At it’s core, fidelity is about congruence between our values and our actions, and congruence between our relationship to ourselves and our relationship to others. There is much of value in Hosea, but first we need to wrestle with the primary analogy of an abusive relationship between God and Israel.
