167: The Pastoral Letters (NT Gospel Doctrine Lesson 41)

“I Have Finished My Course”

The books of 1 and 2 Timothy have some good advice about how to be an effective leader. They also have some problematic advice, especially concerning women and slaves. The thing is, even the good advice doesn’t sound like what Paul would say. This episode covers the author’s council on leadership, warnings against non-constructive discussions and knowledge, and the iconic lines about having “fought the good fight” don’t quite capture the meaning of the Greek.
