Engaging Gospel Doctrine 
Good day. I have considered your thoughts about the “God is Love” episode and accompanying response to the policy changes and would like to offer some feedback, for what it’s worth. It was a phenomenal lesson and discussion!
First, I will not make the accusation branding you an apostate. Nothing in your statement fits the existing four (now five) determinants of that designation. Further, that conclusion would have to be reached by one with ecclesiastical authority, certainly not me. And it shouldn’t have been made by others.
Second, I want to thank you for your comments. They were cohesive and cogent. I can also appreciate the passion with which you delivered it. Your comments encouraged me to continue to seek how general revelation fits into my current understanding.
Third, my struggles with the policy change mirrored yours in many areas. I still have concerns. But I find the biggest struggle is not so much with the policy change itself, but the lack of a willing heart to share my struggle. When others only want to hear or say, “If the prophet says so, just stay quiet and do”, some have to either struggle silently or risk the very relationships they hold so important. And this, I feel, is the larger vulnerability – when we are not allowed to voice our questions about policy. I am not denying the doctrine of the Church, nor am I rescinding my belief and support for the men who lead it. But I acknowledge them as men, subject to bias and limitations perhaps others would not acknowledge. It doesn’t make them bad; it makes them men.
Anyway, I wanted to share the feedback and thank you for sharing such needed and uplifting words. I value them tremendously. Although I do use this podcast as a Sunday School resource, I most appreciate your insight into and willingness to share your message about humanity. Thank you so much for your very, very valuable efforts.
And, yes, any donations received are completely warranted. I will do my part as much as possible and will encourage others to do the same.
